Countdown to Codebender 2.0: Migration and Updates

I’m excited to announce that on July 1, 2026, the new Codebender site will officially go live, and our legacy site will move to legacy.codebender.cc.

Codebender has been rebuilt from the ground up. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the original 2012 team. Their foundational work made this transition and modernization possible. As I continue to develop this platform as a passion project, I am committed to opening up as much of the platform as possible to the community.

Key Changes to Codebender

The new platform brings several improvements to how we handle hardware and libraries:

• No More Agent/App Uploader: You no longer need to use the agent or app uploader, provided your browser supports WebSerial (and if all goes well, WebUSB).
• Libraries: We are moving away from personal libraries. You can now use Codebender’s base Arduino libraries. If you need a custom library, you can include it directly in your project or request to have it added to the base library set.
• Boards: We are also streamlining board support. Users with Pro or Class subscriptions can request to have specific boards added to the platform.

Important Dates

Please mark your calendars for the upcoming transition:

• July 1, 2026: The new site launches, and the legacy site moves to legacy.codebender.cc.
• July 31, 2026: The legacy site will be completely shut down.

Migration and Account Information

• Subscriptions: If you have a subscription, it will automatically be updated and available on the new site.
• Lifetime Accounts: If you held a lifetime account on the old site, you will have a lifetime Pro account on the new site. If your status doesn't reflect this upon migration, please contact me directly.
• Education Accounts: If you have an education account, your account should have been migrated automatically to a Codebender Class account. If not, please contact me directly to ensure your account is properly set up on the new platform.
• Sketch Transfers: If you created an account on the old site after August 4, 2025, and have a subscription, you can request to have your recent sketches transferred.
• Library Backups: Personal libraries will not be transferred. I strongly recommend downloading your libraries from the legacy site before the switch. If you need to access a specific library from the old platform after July 1st, please email [email protected] or reach out via our Discord.

Looking Ahead

We have a lot of exciting additions coming soon, including:

• Espressif support (ESP32 and potentially ESP8266).
• Expanded board support for manufacturers.
• New examples and educational resources.
